Maria Kruger is a spiritual awakening guide, digital tools creator, and senior advertising copywriter who spent nearly two decades crafting stories for brands while her own soul quietly suffocated under client briefs and 9 PM WhatsApp notifications.

Her awakening began the way most do: unexpectedly and completely uninvited. A late-night Facebook scroll, a near-death experience video, and about nine months of religious deconstruction, grief, and absolute dissolution later, she emerged on the other side of the dark night of the soul with a mission to make sure no one has to navigate that darkness alone.

Maria creates practical, soul-led digital tools and guides for people in the thick of spiritual awakening and religious deconstruction, those who are questioning everything they once believed, grieving the identity they used to live inside, and desperately searching for someone who genuinely gets it.

Her work is grounded in lived experience. She has sat on cold bathroom tiles at 2 AM, whispered desperate prayers in search of the truth, terrified for her soul, watched her family grieve the version of her they knew, and rebuilt her entire inner world from the ground up.

Today, she serves as a catalyst and guide for individuals reclaiming their sovereignty, their inherent worthiness, and their power as conscious co-creators of their own reality.

She is based in South Africa and is the author of The Dark Night Companion, a 30-day guide to navigating spiritual awakening and religious deconstruction.

The Farm Girl Who Lost Her Religion
So… I grew up on a farm in the Free State of South Africa, inside a conservative, religious community where fear was basically the family business. Fear of God. Fear of the devil. Fear of farm attacks. And when fear marinates in a community, people eventually stop seeing it as fear and start...

Religious Deconstruction and the Dark Night of the Soul: What Nobody Tells You About Losing Your Faith
There is a certain kind of terror that comes with religious deconstruction that most articles never name properly. It is not just the grief of losing a community. It is not just the identity crisis of no longer knowing who you are without your faith. Those things are real and devastating, yes. But the fear underneath all of it is far more primal than that. It is the fear that in questioning what you were taught about God, you are endangering your own soul. That is a type of suffering that...

Early Stage of Spiritual Awakening: The Signs Nobody Warns You About
You Did Everything Right. So Why Does Nothing Feel Right? You have the career. Maybe the house. The relationship that looks good from the outside. You have achieved things you once only dreamed about. And yet somewhere in the middle of all, a quiet but insistent feeling arrived and refused to leave. Something is off. Not broken, exactly. Not depressed in the clinical sense. Just... disconnected. Like you have been living inside a version of your life that belongs to someone you used to be. If...
