Living in the New Earth: How to Create Your Heaven on Earth From Within

8 min read

The world has felt loud lately. Crisis after crisis, noise after noise, a hum of exhaustion that has very little to do with how much news you actually watch. And yet, underneath all of it, something is trying to emerge. Many people walking a spiritual path are sensing the same thing: that what looks like breakdown might really be breakthrough, and that we are living through the early light of what is often called the new earth.

Two thousand years ago, Jesus said something that still lands like a key turning in a lock. The kingdom of God, he taught, is within you (Luke 17:21). Not above you, not ahead of you, not waiting for you on the other side of death or success or self-improvement. Within. That same truth sits at the heart of the new earth conversation today, beautifully articulated by Sara Landon and the collective she channels, known as The Council, in their episode on the rise of the new earth on the Next Level Soul podcast.

Everything you have been searching for, all the wisdom, all the peace, all the answers, has been within you the whole time. This guide is about how to remember that, and what living in the new earth actually looks like in practice.

A figure stepping onto a radiant golden path toward the dawn, illustrating living in the new earth and heaven on earth.

What Is the New Earth?

The new earth is not a place you travel to or a date on a calendar. It is a shift in consciousness that is already underway, a collective movement out of fear and into love, out of chaos and into peace. Rather than a dramatic external event, it is a change in how we perceive, choose and experience reality from the inside out.

In the language Sara Landon and The Council use, this shift is a move toward what they describe as a fifth dimension of pure love, the heaven on earth that has been imagined and prophesied across cultures for centuries. The difference is that they speak of it not as a reward in some far-off afterlife, but as a lived, present experience available to you now. The great awakening, in this view, is not something happening to humanity from the outside. It is happening through humanity, one person at a time, as each of us chooses awareness over reaction and love over fear.

You do not step into the new earth by waiting for the world to fix itself. You step into it by changing the world you carry inside you - and by doing that, changing yourself. And the first thing to understand is that you already have everything you need to do it.

"The Kingdom of God Is Within You": Everything You Seek Is Already Here

We are living in the most information-rich moment in human history. Podcasts, books, courses, teachers, videos, endless wisdom at our fingertips. And yet so many people feel more stuck than ever. Why?

Because knowledge alone does not change a life. Transformation happens when wisdom stops being something you consume and becomes something you live. This is one of the most striking points to come out of the Next Level Soul conversation: we are not lacking answers, we are being called to embody the answers we already carry. The work of this age is no longer searching. It is implementation. It is trusting yourself enough to live what you already know to be true.

This is exactly what Jesus pointed to. If the kingdom is within, then the seeking itself can become a subtle trap, an endless reaching outward for a teacher, a method, a sign, a saviour, when the still small voice was always speaking from inside. The new earth asks you to turn the search around. To stop outsourcing your truth. To recognise that the wisdom you keep looking for in others is a reflection of the wisdom already alive in you. You drew those teachers to you because something in you already knew. The teaching simply gave you permission to remember.

How Do You Start Living in the New Earth?

Living in the new earth is less about doing more and more about choosing differently. Here are seven gentle shifts, drawn from this teaching and from the wider awakening path, that help you step onto that illuminated path and stay on it.

1. Reclaim your sovereignty.

So much of our exhaustion comes from giving our power away, to politicians, headlines, institutions, other people's opinions, even our own past. The new earth begins the moment you become, in Sara Landon's lovely phrase, the president of your own life. Nothing has power over you unless you hand it yours.

2. Make peace your set point.

Most of us have a habit of dropping into fear or fight-or-flight the instant something unsettles us. What if peace became your foundation instead? Not because you ignore what is happening, but because you choose to respond from stillness rather than react from panic.

3. Master your perception.

The same event can be a disaster or a doorway depending on how you hold it. When you change the meaning you give to your experience, you change the experience itself. Reality bends around perception more than we like to admit.

4. Practice unwavering self-love.

One of the hardest things in the human experience is to love yourself completely, with no conditions, no matter what is happening with your body, your finances or the world. Notice how often you quietly deny yourself love over something small. The invitation is to become the source of love in your own life first, so it can flow naturally to everyone else.

5. Let go of judgement.

Judgement of yourself, of others, of your circumstances, is what keeps you feeling powerless. Releasing it is one of the fastest ways to feel freer. You do not have to approve of everything. You simply stop letting judgement run the show.

6. Live in the present and follow your joy.

You were never meant to navigate this life by force and obligation. Doing what brings you joy, what feels alive and fun and creative, is not selfish. It is the compass you came in with.

7. Implement what you already know.

Pick one piece of wisdom you keep nodding along to but never actually live, and live it this week. The new earth is built in these small, embodied choices, not in the next course you buy.

Heaven on Earth Is Not "Perfect": What It Means to Me

For me, living my heaven on earth is not some polished, finished life where everything has finally fallen into place. It is creativity. It is channelling inspiration into things that might help someone else: writing about my own journey, facing my shadows on the page, sharing my healing, writing poetry, designing shirts and guides carrying messages that mean something to a soul who needs them. Creating is where I feel closest to the divine.

It is also the small things. Learning to replace impatience with wonder. Being fully present with my husband and my children instead of rushing through the moment to get to the next one, then realising the moment was the whole point. Heaven on earth, for me, is appreciating these fleeting, ordinary, holy moments while they are still here.

And it is this: I am learning that I do not have to wait to be happy. I do not have to postpone joy, freedom and abundance until I have reached some goal, until the business is as successful as I picture it, until I have left the day job, until my outer life finally catches up with what I am creating within. I can be happy right here, right now, exactly as things are.

Because life will never be perfect, and perfect was always just a perception anyway. When you master your perception and your energy, you begin to master your life. That is the new earth, lived in a Tuesday afternoon.

Freedom From Fear: Releasing Religious Conditioning

For me, heaven on earth has also meant becoming free from the fears that religion conditioned into me. I grew up with a deep, inherited fear of hell, of damnation, of a watching, jealous, easily angered God waiting to judge and punish me. Some of the most liberating truths I have ever encountered, many of them through the Next Level Soul podcast, which I am endlessly grateful for, and through Neale Donald Walsch's book Conversations with God, gently dismantled that fear. There is nothing to fear when you die. There is no vengeful God keeping score. There is, in the deepest sense, no judgement at all.

Letting go of the religious foundation I was raised on was one of the hardest and most frightening things I have ever done. It was not a clean break. It was grief, disorientation and fear, woven right through my own dark night of the soul. But on the other side of that fear was a freedom I would not trade for anything: the freedom to love without terror, to seek without shame, and to find God within rather than somewhere far above, ready to disappoint me.

If any of this is your story too, you are not alone in it. I have written more openly about my own unravelling in The Farm Girl Who Lost Her Religion: Healing Religious Trauma and in Religious Deconstruction and the Dark Night of the Soul. And if you are in the disorientating middle of it, my guides to navigating the void and to what the dark night of the soul means and why it happens may help you feel less alone in the dark.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the new earth in spiritual terms?

In spiritual circles, the new earth refers to a collective shift in human consciousness from fear, separation and limitation toward love, unity and freedom. It is understood as a change in perception and vibration that is already happening, rather than a physical place or a single future event.

What does "heaven on earth" mean?

Heaven on earth means experiencing peace, joy, love and abundance as a lived, present reality rather than a reward you wait for after death. It points to the idea that your inner state, not your external circumstances, is the true foundation of your experience, and that you can choose that state now.

How do I start living in the new earth?

Start small and inward. Choose peace as your response instead of fear, practise loving yourself without conditions, release judgement, follow what brings you joy, and act on the wisdom you already have. The new earth is built through these everyday, embodied choices.

Is the new earth the same as the fifth dimension or 5D?

Many teachers use the terms interchangeably. The fifth dimension, or 5D, usually describes a higher state of consciousness rooted in love rather than fear. The new earth is what that state looks like when enough people live it: a world experienced through peace, presence and unity.

What did Jesus mean by "the kingdom of God is within you"?

It is widely understood to mean that the divine is not located in some external place but is found within your own consciousness. The peace, joy, wisdom and connection people seek outside themselves were, in this view, always accessible inside. It is the same truth at the centre of the new earth message.

The path into the new earth is luminous, but it rarely begins in the light. For most of us it begins in the dark, in the dissolving of an old identity, an old faith, an old way of seeing. That passage is the dark night of the soul, and it is sacred ground.

If you are walking through it right now, you do not have to walk it without a companion. My Dark Night Companion Spiritual Awakening Guide was created to be a gentle hand to hold through exactly that stretch of the journey, so that the darkness becomes not the end of your story, but the doorway to your heaven on earth.
